The statement posted the Russian foreign ministry website said that Syria’s downing of the Turkish fighter jet should not be seen as an act of provocation or as a planned act.

Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will attend a meeting on Syria, which will also be joined by Kofi Annan, to be held in Geneva on June 30, 2012.

Russia’s Permanent Representative at UN, Vitaly Churkin said that they regarded the meeting in Geneva with a great importance and expects other invited countries to attend the meeting.
