TURKEY WELCOMES BRAHIMI AS NEW ENVOY FOR SYRIA

The statement released by Turkish Foreign Ministry said Ankara welcomes career diplomat Lakhdar Brahimi to replace former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan to explore ways to tackle the unceasing violence in Syria.

The Statement noted that Turkey is ready to extend its full support and cooperation to Brahimi as it did with Annan.

The Statement said further that in order for Brahimi to be successful the UN Security Council and all other institutions need to back him up in unity.
