Algerian diplomat Lakhdar Brahimi will replace the position which former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan quit as mediator to find a solution to the Syrian crisis under the title of UN and Arab League Special Envoy.
Algerian diplomat Lakhdar Brahimi has accepted to take over as peace broker on Syria, replacing Kofi Annan two weeks after he resigns in frustration with the failure of a four-month-old truce.
