The number of dead in the recent acts of violence has risen to 120.

Opposition sources say that Damascus has become the scene of fiercest confrontations since March 2011 when hostilities started.

The bloody incidents are reported to be taking place at a distance of only 9 kms from the heart of the capital.

The attack by Al Assad's armored vehicles on the neighborhood of Barzeh in the capital has met with firm resistance by the opposition groups.

An army tank was destroyed by the opposition groups.

In the meantime, Al Assad is trying to get away with the chaos in the country by appointing a new cabinet.

The interior, defense and foreign ministers have retained their portfolios in the new cabinet.

The new ministers have been sworn in with ceremony at the presidential palace.
