Stating that he had favorable talks on Turkey's candidacy for 2020 Olympics, Erdoğan criticized the Olympic games not being held in Turkey up until today. "The games were held three times in London, twice in Madrid and twice in Tokyo. The Olympic games not being organized in Turkey that qualified for the finals for 5 times is not a fair approach.

Olympics have not been organized in a country where the majority of the population is Muslim. People ask the reason for this" he said. Prime Minister Erdoğan said that Turkey has the capacity to host the Olympic games. "The Olympic Games will be held in Olympic stadiums and arenas that are much better than many stadiums in Europe. We have no deficiencies but if they say that we do, we will eliminate them" he added.
